At ‘We’, we recognize the importance of ‘levels’ as a means of measuring and ‘visualizing’ your progress. Therefore, we have subdivided the levels into 20 stages, each with its own set of skills.

Suitable for beginners learning for the first time. Have knowledge of basic greetings. Able to read simple words using hiragana. The classes teach the basics from the beginning so you can start getting use to real-life Japanese. [Knowledge of character: recognition of hiragana and katakana]
Can respond to ‘set phrases’ involving greetings and self-introductions. The classes focus on slowly expanding your vocabulary and improving your speaking so you can talk about the things around you. [Knowledge of character: Writing of hiragana and katakana]
While not accurate, able to utilize simple sentence structures. Although expressions are limited, able to sustain conversations as an extension of the self-introduction. These classes aim to increase you knowledge of expressions required to communicate your feelings or opinions. [Knowledge of Kanji: 121characters]
Although not smoothly, able to express intentions in simple daily conversations. Transitioning from using ‘words’ to ‘sentences’ as a means of expression. These classes aim to have the students acquire the expressions required to report, to communicate and to discuss.[Knowledge of Kanji: 251characters]
Although it may be ‘broken’ Japanese at times, beginning to sound natural. Suitable for learners who are beginning to recognize the rhythms and nuances of spoken Japanese.[Knowledge of Kanji: 378characters]
Slow speaking speed but good grasp of communication skills and expressions. Able to construct sentences and express thoughts on topics with prior background knowledge.[Knowledge of Kanji: 500characters]
Able to express opinions and thoughts and understand others in daily situations. No problems with communicating intent and exchange of information.[Knowledge of Kanji: 750characters]
Balanced in all five skills. Able to communicate speedily and accurately. Able to use Japanese in advanced situations such as business talk and business negotiations.[Knowledge of Kanji: 1000characters]
Able to use Japanese like a native speaker. Possess high communication skill in all aspects including self-expression, logical thinking and non-verbal skills.[Knowledge of Kanji: 1500characters]
